Bio and Career Highlights
Brad Halsey, P
- Left-hander Brad Halsey was a standout at the
University of Texas and established himself as a
standout at the Minor League level last year. In his
first full professional season, Halsey went a
combined 17-9 (tying with three other pitchers for
the most victories in Minor League Baseball). He
began the year at Class A Tampa, posting a 10-4
record with a 3.43 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 14 games
(13 starts). He was promoted to Double-A Trenton
near mid-season and finished the year with the
Thunder, going 7-5 with a 4.93 ERA and 78 Ks in 15
games. Halsey, a native of Houston, made his
professional debut in 2002, going 6-1 with a 1.93
ERA for Staten Island. The 23-year-old was a key
member of Texas' 2002 National Championship team,
going 7-2 with a 2.74 ERA and 82 strikeouts for the
Longhorns.
