named to the Midwest League mid- and post-season
All-Star teams after going 1-3 with 25 saves and a
2.06 ERA in 45 relief appearances with Single-A Fort
Wayne...was also honored as the best reliever on the
circuit in Baseball America's Best Tools
survey...was second in the Padres' chain in
saves...ranked third among league relievers in saves
and strikeouts per 9.0 innings (13.5), and fourth in
relief points (71)...held opponents to a .182
average against (31-for-170)...allowed just one
earned run in his first 26 games of the season (0.35
ERA), a stretch that included a 17.1-inning
scoreless streak April 22-June 7...earned 13 saves
in 14 appearances May 7-June 7...worked a perfect
ninth to earn the win for the East in the Midwest
League All-Star game June 22 at Cedar Rapids...was
on the disabled list August 12 through the end of
the season with an infection in his right knee.
