CAREER...SF’s 3rd selection in 2004
First-Year Player Draft (4th round) will make 2nd
consecutive trip to big league camp...22-year-old
speedster has earned All-Star honors in each of 1st
2 minor league campaigns, while batting .291 with 51
stolen bases (in 69 attempts).
2005 SEASON...Was elected to
in-season California League All-Star squad at
single-A San Jose, while pacing circuit with 12 3Bs
and 34 stolen bases (5th in SF organization)...also
ranked 4th in league with 160 hits, while batting
.291 with 85 runs, 22 2Bs, 4 HRs and 39 RBI...center
fielder logged .990 fielding pct. (3 errors, 315
total chances).
PERSONAL...Clay W. Timpner…graduated
from LaBelle (FL) High School...3-year letterman in
baseball was also 3-time team MVP...compiled .448
avg. with 75 stolen bases as prepster, while forging
2.39 ERA...recognized by Baseball America as
honorable mention Defensive Player of Year in
2000...attended University of Central Florida, where
he batted .360 with 76 thefts over 3 seasons...led
Golden Knights in hits, 2Bs, 3Bs, HRs, total bases
and steals en route to 1st Team All-Conference
honors in 2004, while UCF advanced to NCAA Regionals...single.
